This three-year letterman was an explosive two-way end who captained the Crimson in 1932. As a junior, he was a consensus All-East and New York Herald All-American; he was an Honorable Mention AP and UPI choice in both his junior and senior years. Carl won the Burr Award in 1933, and in 1957, he was selected to the Sports Illustrated Silver Anniversary All-America Team. Carl was also an outstanding basketball player at Harvard, He captained the freshman team and lettered for the varsity for three seasons. He was elected second Marshal of his graduating class.
