Members of the Selection Committee - thank you for this great honor.
To my fellow honorees and those who were not able to join us in person - I have fond memories of spending time together on campus and following your careers as you competed at the highest level, won championships as individuals and with your teams, and represented Harvard with pride and passion.
To my friends and family who are here tonight and to those who were not able to attend, thank you for your love and support - I have learned so much from each of you and am forever grateful for that.
To my parents, Anne and David - I love you with all of my heart.
To my siblings - I am lucky to have you on my team, always supporting, always cheering - I am so proud to be your brother.
To my beautiful wife and kids – I am blessed and so happy to share this with you. I
Admittedly, I was slightly embarrassed when I learned of this great honor. Any success that we had on the field was entirely dependent on the skill and teamwork of my coaches and teammates. This recognition is shared with all of you - we lost together, we won together, and we became champions together.
To Coach Kerr and Coach Crompton - thank you for giving me a chance and for believing in me. Thanks to you, I was able to become a Harvard Athlete and pursue a career in the sport that I love. With your guidance, I learned how to play to win.
Like many of you here, my time at Harvard has had a profound impact on my life - I learned important lessons about myself, my weaknesses, my strengths, about leadership, and my ability to set goals and work hard to achieve them.
When folks ask me about my college experience, I explain to them (much to their surprise) that I realized relatively early on that it was unlikely that I would become Valedictorian of the class of 2007, but despite that, I wanted to have an impact, and decided that I would work hard to reach my full potential as an athlete.
When it was all said and done, I was proud of we had achieved - we had created a winning culture, and one that was built on supporting one another and those around us.
I am so proud to have been able to represent Harvard as a collegiate athlete, and am so thankful for that opportunity.
Thank you for including me with a group of such accomplished men and women, both on and off the field.
