A stalwart #3 oarsman, he contributed strongly to three fine seasons in which Harvard won 18 of 20 races. Captained the 1939 crew which won the Grand Challenge Cup at Henley on the 25th anniversary of the initial Harvard win by Leverett Saltonstall’s famous 1914 Henley crew and the 100th anniversary of the Henley regatta. Singled out by the coaching staff as one of the finest oarsmen of the 1937-43 era.
