Harvard Athletic Achievements

Master of the spectacular, he was one of few collegians ever to be named the outstanding athlete in the B.A.A indoor Games, a meet with a proud history of almost 75 years. Twice he electrified capacity crowds with stirring relay anchor legs to steal the headlines from international stars. He won the 600 in three successive Quadrangular meets, broke the outdoor Heptagonal 880-yard record two straight years. His Harvard 880 record stood for two decades, solid testimony to his ranking as one of the Crimson’s greatest middle distance men.
