Harvard Athletic Achievements

For three years a mainstay at guard, he capped his career by playing in the East-West classic, one of few Harvard men ever to be so honored. Never spectacular but always efficient, he was a major factor in making the Harlow attack effective with his sturdy blocking. In his senior year he contributed to a defense that blanked three opponents, held four others to single touchdowns, and allowed only 46 points for the entire season. He was generally credited with being the catalytic influence that maintained things on an even keel for what Coach Harlow called “my sweetest team.”
