Harvard Athletic Achievements

Seven letters – three in baseball, two each in football and track. He started his athletic career as a freshman pitcher, became a catcher in hi last two years as part of an outstanding battery with classmate Walter Clarkson. Starred as a 166-pound halfback in 1901 when he was named All America for such exploits as a 60-yard touchdown run in the final minute to beat Army, 6-0, and three touchdowns against Brown. Captained the 1902 team that lost only to Yale in 11 games. In track, won high jump against Yale in 1902 and leaped to IC4A title the following year.
