Harvard Varsity Club (“HVC”) is committed to safeguarding the privacy of
visitors to our website. This Privacy Policy applies to http://www.harvardvarsityclub.org and
any other websites controlled by HVC, including mobile sites or apps
(collectively, the “Sites”). By visiting the Sites, you accept this
Privacy Policy and HVC Terms of Use, which are hereby incorporated. If
you do not agree with these policies, please do not use the Sites.
Changes and Updates: The HVC may revise this Privacy
Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and
update the date at the top, so be sure to check back periodically to stay aware
of any modifications. Your continued use of the Sites after changes have been
posted will constitute your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and any changes.
What Information We Collect: The HVC may ask for and collect
from you personally identifiable information at various points throughout the
Sites. Depending on what services you choose to receive from HVC, you may
be asked to provide your name, email address, mailing address, phone number,
credit card information, and other information. You can choose not to
provide certain information, but then you may not be able to take advantage of
some of our features or service offerings.
Payment card information may be collected on our Sites and
processed by secure third- party providers. Payment information is not
stored on our Sites post authorization.
Cookies and Other Online Tracking
Technologies:
HVC collects information about how visitors use the Sites and may use cookies
or other similar technologies to help compile aggregate statistical reports and
diagnose problems with our Sites. This information may include log file
information such as Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, browser
language, pages viewed, and the date and time of a visit.
While our Sites do not respond to web browser “do not track”
signals, we do not track your online activity over time across third party
websites when you use our Sites.
How We Use and Disclose Personally
Identifiable Information: All personally identifiable information provided by
Harvard alumni is strictly reserved for use by individual alumni and HVC for
personal and Uni HVC versity-related purposes only. Personal information
may be disclosed by HVC to authorized third parties only for the provisioning
of services to users. Any third parties who receive user information for
this purpose are prohibited from using or sharing user information for any
purpose other than providing services to users.
HVC may use alumni personal information in the following ways:
- To process and respond to inquiries and for the
purposes for which you provided the information, such as to process membership
applications or donations, or provide information about a project or
event. In sending us an electronic message or text message, you send us
certain personal information (e.g., name and e-mail address or mobile
phone number). We may store the name and address of the sender in order to
respond or otherwise handle the subject of the e-mail or text message.
- To alert you to new events, features, special
projects or opportunities, and services.
- To provide feedback to HVC leadership and to
conduct surveys to measure your satisfaction with our services.
- To protect HVC’s rights or property or the
safety of HVC, our members, or others.
- To comply with any court order, legal process,
or respond to any governmental or regulatory request.
- To transfer information in the event of a
merger, transfer of assets or other organizational restructuring.
- To evaluate our Sites and identify where we
should make changes or expand services.
HVC may use third-party service providers or other third-party
organizations helping to support HVC’s mission that may collect, store, or
process your personal information, including payment information on our behalf,
in order for us to provide services to you.
HVC processes your information on servers located in the United
States.
Your California Privacy Rights: California’s “Shine The Light”
law (CA Civil Code §1798.83) permits California residents to annually request
and obtain information free of charge about what personal information is
disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes in the preceding
calendar year. HVC does not distribute your personal information to outside
parties for their direct marketing, except as provided for in this Privacy
Policy, without your consent.
Third Party Websites: Our Sites may contain links to
other websites provided by third parties. Please be aware that we do not
control these third party websites or any of the content contained on those
websites. Once you have left our Sites, we cannot be responsible for the
privacy practices of such other websites. We encourage you to exercise
caution and to read the privacy policy for the website you visit. The
inclusion of hyperlinks to third party websites on our Sites in no way
constitutes an endorsement by us of such websites’ content, actions or
policies.
Email and Text-Messaging Policy: Harvard Varsity Club may send you
email communications to inform you of news, events, and information relevant to
you and the Harvard alumni community. You may opt out of these emails by
clicking the Unsubscribe link in the footer of emails sent by Harvard Varsity
Club. If you are missing the link or require assistance in opting out of

If you send us email messages, you should be aware that information disclosed
in email may not be secure or encrypted and thus may be available to
others. We suggest that you exercise caution when deciding to disclose
any personal or confidential information in email. We will use your email
address to respond directly to your questions or comments. Similarly, by opting
in to receive event notifications and other text messages on your wireless
telephone, you consent to receiving text messages at the telephone number,
including Short Message Service (“SMS”) messages. By opting in, you accept
and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use, which can be

your confidence and trust, and take steps to help protect the personal
information you provide to us. However, no transmission or electronic
